Hi I’m Jola, a German Photographer and Communication Designer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland where I have completed my MFA Photography. I’m an explorer and problem solver who loves to engage with people and nature. I capture extraordinary moments, find the right words to tell your story or define your brand, and create visual identities. I’m always up for new challenges, adventures and collaborations.
Say Hi if you’re curious and want to know more, or collaborate on your new project! I’m always excited to meet new people and open for a chat via email or phone.
Photography combines my love of engaging with people and places with my passion to capture moments that inspire, surprise or represent you. At the core of my work is a genuine interest in the people I work with and the passion to tell authentic stories. I’m driven to take the extra step to capture the moment or to create a bespoke visual concept. Every project requires a unique approach whether it’s being a silent observer in the background, chasing the sun up a mountain or hanging upside down on a rope. I’ll be at your side, all the way, to experience, capture and share!
My personal interest for sport and adventure led to my passion in Sport and Outdoor Photography. This has taken me on foot through the Peruvian Andes and the Alps, on horseback through Mongolia, on a bike through Thailand as well as exploring the climbing around my new home in Northern Ireland.
I have worked with:
Adidas Terrex – Transvulcania Ultramarathon on La Palma
Terry Palmer / Damien Elliot – Lost Souls (pre-production)
Mountaineering Ireland – Bouldering Guidebook
Action For Children NI – Portaledge (rope-access)
Gravity Climbing Wall Dublin – G-Forece Video
Boulderworld Belfast – Promotion / Comps
Crooked Mile Tattoo – Headshots / Promotion
Travel & Teck – Product
I love to create visual solutions that make people smile, think and engage. I’m offering comprehensive, personal collaborations on projects with a philosophy I can relate to. Together we can develop a clear message and an original visual language. As a Communication Designer I combine visual solutions with conceptual thinking. My work specialises in branding and identity design, and builds on my belief that any visual identity should be based on a clearly defined message.

The German language contains two words for home: “Zuhause” (the place where one lives - a place of comfort and peace) and “Heimat” (a familiar landscape, sound or smell evoked by memories and nostalgia). My work has always evolved around these twin notions of belonging; of absence and presence. I draw from personal experience as well as the experiences of others, often supporting my photographic work with oral histories to build a multi-vocal portrait of people and place.
